Sunday 7th May, weather, sunny, wind north westerly force1 

Perfect weather greeted us at the lighthouse with almost still wind  conditions meant every bird sound and movement in the trees could be Monitored. 

Swift passage had slowed down compared to the great numbers (300+) yesterday with ones and twos passing through during the morning, 

At Lingham bridge a Sedge warbler 1 of 3 in the area was perched on top of the hedgerow an unusual sighting at the bridge, later on in the morning a Little Owl was heard,

Further up Lingham lane by the old Brick pit 3 Lesser Whitethroat were amongst the trees and bushes these birds being quite secretive ,if you want a clear view or photograph you have to be quite patient, 

A fine male Redstart was in the trees near the white gates on Lingham lane.

The main activity in the paddocks was centered on the top paddock (west end) where 6 of the 9 Wheatear that were seen in the area were feeding on a rich supply of insects,

Along with the Wheatear a pair of Whinchat that if if you blink or take your eye off for a second disappear only to pop up somewhere else , a joy to see but a nightmare to photograph , 

Just past the top paddock on Park lane a Cuckoo flew from one of the tall trees, 

At Kerr's field a Yellow Wagtail was close in to the northerly fence feeding along with a flock of Starlings, 

Other birds in the area were, 3 Blackcap, Willow warbler , Chiffchaff, Reed Warbler, 20+ Swallow 1 House Martin , 10+ Common Whitethroat, 20 + summer plumage Dunlin at Dove point, 

(Update from Friday 1 Stock Dove  near Kerr's field a good record for the lighthouse) 

With recent sightings in the west of the UK of Citrine Wagtail And Red footed falcon who knows one or both of these eastern gems might turn up on our patch, fingers crossed and a strong south easterly wind behind us,
